RIGID PUMP INSTALLATION

In this video we install a Flojak Rigid into a 6 inch well casing with an existing submersible electric pump where the electricity and plumbing are underground. We will be using a new Flojak Rigid Well Seal and Well Cap that are available mounting options for this system. If you did not purchase a cap or seal from Flojak, you will need to modify your existing cap or seal to have a 2-1/16” hole to install the pump.

Step 1: Install the Foot Valve Assembly

  • The foot valve assembly is the water pickup point at the very bottom of your pump. You can identify this component by its cone shaped end and the attached safety cord.
  • Unwind and join all included safety cord lengths together using an offset overhand bend knot. For systems longer than 50 feet, you will find additional lengths in multiple boxes.
  • Slide the foot valve assembly through the hole in your well cap or seal, then clip a tube support just beneath the male end threaded coupler.
  • If you are using a well seal, feed the safety cord up through a port so it can feed down the well
  • If you are using a well cap, route the safety cord through the electrical conduit access
  • Place your foot valve assembly and well cap or seal onto your well head and secure
  • Tie the end of the safety cord to a solid mounting point on or near your well head.

Step 2: Install the Base Tube Pairs

  • Base tube pairs are full length and do not have a colored sticker.
  • Place an o-ring over the small male coupler at the top of the installed portion
  • Clip the second tube support just beneath the top coupler and screw on the T-handle if applicable.
  • As one person positions the tube set over the wellhead, the second person aligns the threads and joins the inner couplers followed by the outer couplers. Only hand-tightening is required.
  • Next, one person lifts the installed tube upward while the second person removes the lower tube support.
  • Gently lower the assembled portion using a combination of gripping the tubing directly and the T-handle if applicable.
  • Remove the T-handle, if installed.
  • Repeat these steps until you have installed all base tube pairs

Step 3: Install the Weep Hole Tube Pair

  • The weep hole tube pair is full length and has a green sticker on one end. Remove the plastic and note that there is an o-ring inside the coupler opposite of the green sticker.
  • Install this tube with the green sticker end down.
  • Install this tube pair using the same technique as the base tube pairs.

Step 4: Install the Upper Tube Pair

  • The upper tube pair is shorter length and identified by a yellow sticker. Remove the plastic. You will install this tube pair using the same technique as the base tube pairs. Install with the yellow sticker end down.
  • Install the tube rod handle through the hole and pull the inner tube upward until the previous coupling presents itself. Snap the small end of the tube support beneath this coupler. For 50 foot systems, no tube rod handle is required, simply grip with hands to pull upward instead.
  • Remove this section of tubing and set it aside.

Step 5: Install the Airlift Assembly

  • Using the included 6mm hex wrench, remove the cap screw and washer from the top of the pump. Position the handle in place so the FLOJAK logo faces away from the hose connection. Secure the handle by reinstalling the washer and cap screw. Tighten very securely.
  • Raise the airlift assembly over the exposed tube coupler and carefully thread them together. Only a snug fit is required, be careful not to over-tighten.
  • As one person lifts up on the airlift assembly, the second person can remove the tube support from the small tube. The airlift assembly can then be lowered. Carefully thread the outer couplers together.
  • Again, as one person lifts up on the airlift assembly, the second person can remove the final tube support and the airlift assembly can then be lowered to rest on the well cap or well seal.
  • Install screws into the mounting flange to secure the pump

Step 6: Connect the Air Tank

  • Apply a few wraps of the included teflon tape onto the male tank hose connector and thread the hose into the air manifold on the Airlift assembly. Tighten using the included 5/8” wrench.

Step 7: Charging the System

  • Open the ball valve and add air through the schraeder valve until the handle begins to rise.
  • Dial in the air pressure to be most comfortable for you by adding more air or releasing air from the tank by gently pulling the ring on the release valve.
  • After you are done pumping, close the ball valve to retain air in the tank between use.
